Character Background

• History: Here!
• Core Relationships: Hizashi Yamada – Also known as the Pro-Hero Present Mic, Hizashi has been Aizawa’s close friend since their school days in UA, and the two remain close to this day. They have been shown to get along well despite their differing personalities and understand each other very well, supporting each other through difficult situations when needed. Hizashi in particular has shown concern for Shouta's wellbeing on several occasions, especially when he stated that he didn't want to expel the UA traitor.

Oboro Shirakumo – While Oboro died many years before MHA begins, he was also a close friend of Aizawa’s in UA, and his relationship with Aizawa has affected him greatly even into the present day. Oboro was always encouraging Aizawa, who lacked confidence in himself when he was younger, and Aizawa looked up to him as the kind of hero he could never be – one who doesn’t hesitate in saving others simply because it’s the right thing to do. Oboro remains important to Shouta into the present day, and he's still greatly affected by his grief. Because of Oboro’s death, Aizawa has become strict with his students, not wanting them to become the types of heroes to throw their lives away for the sake of helping others - and part of his emotionally closed-off nature may also be a result of his friend’s death.

Shinsou Hitoshi – Shinsou is one of the students at UA who, despite not being in Aizawa’s class, Aizawa personally took under his wing to mentor in order to help him transfer into the Hero Course. Hizashi has stated that Aizawa might see his younger self in Shinsou, with that being part of the reason he decided to help him personally, especially since they both have Quirks which are seen as inefficient in combat.

Class 1-A – Aizawa has been shown to care deeply about his class, and it has been noted on several occasions that he’s more attached to Class 1-A than any of his previous classes. He thinks about the fact that he has to see them graduate and become heroes when he thinks he’s going to be killed by Shigaraki, and he goes to great lengths to keep them safe, even if he’s also incredibly strict with them and doesn’t always show his concern openly. He greatly respects their abilities and potential as heroes, and Class 1-A is the first class he's had where he didn't expel any of the students, believing that they all have potential.

Character Personality Through Key Moments

(2+) Positive Experiences:
Aizawa is heroic, and shows this heroism most notably in the way he protects and lays down his life for others - especially his students. He would put himself in danger without hesitation for their sakes, and as a pro-hero, constantly puts himself in danger fighting villains for the sake of protecting innocent people. One example of his heroic selflessness is in the fight at USJ, where he immediately jumps into the action to fight the villains attacking them despite being outnumbered and at a disadvantage because his fighting style doesn't favor long, drawn out fights. He also manages to use his Quirk to prevent Shigaraki from killing one of his students, despite the fact that he was nearly dying and in extreme pain at the time.

Aizawa is driven in his goal to protect lives, and is capable of doing extreme things in order to make sure he can continue to do so. He values rationality and practicality highly, and can act under great pressure in stressful situations, even making decisions that most people would find very difficult to make. A key example of this is in the War arc, where after being shot with a Quirk erasing bullet, he’s able to instantly make the decision to cut off his leg in order to prevent the drug from spreading to the rest of his body, and does so without hesitation.

(2+) Negative Experiences: Like many of the other adult heroes in MHA, Aizawa is often more focused on the idea of beating villains than saving them – and doesn’t tend to recognize them as people who deserve empathy as well. He’s biased by his emotions - and one example of this in canon is how he sympathises with the villain Kurogiri and wants to save him because he used to be his friend, but doesn’t even consider the possibility that Shigaraki might be a victim of All For One in the same way that Kurogiri was. He also has arguably put his students in danger by allowing them to fight in the front lines against the Paranormal Liberation Front despite the fact that he wants to protect them, seeing it as necessary to defeat the villains – therefore becoming arguably another example of prioritizing defeating villains over protecting lives.

Aizawa is also emotionally closed-off, and can be overly harsh on his students and people in general. This can be seen in canon by how he refuses to admit to several people that he actually likes them, and how when evaluating Midoriya’s Quirk in a test on the first day of class, he told Midoriya he had no potential and that he couldn’t become a hero - not caring about how this could affect him emotionally - which is particularly relevant as Midoriya had been bullied in the past. While at times he encourages his students, he's also very strict on them and in general, rarely gives praise even when it's deserved.

Deer Country Attributes

• Canon Powers: In MHA, Quirks are superhuman abilities that individuals have started developing through evolution, and over 80% of the world’s population has a Quirk, meaning they are extremely commonplace. Aizawa has the Quirk Erasure, which allows him to erase the Quirks of other people just by looking at them, though the effect goes away when he blinks. In Deer, Aizawa’s canon powers will be left intact, and supported by the powers he gets from his Blood Type.
• Blood Type: Darkblood.
• Omen: A cat.
• Blessed Day: May 5th, as it is the date of Oboro's birthday.
• Patron Pthumerian: Bausphomette. Aizawa would feel glad to have Baus over many of the other Patron Pthumerians in Trench, particularly admiring his empathy and protective nature. However, he would also feel conflicted about the importance Baus places on loving and taking care of one’s true self, wondering why he was chosen and if he really deserves that kind of lesson.
• Blood Power Manifestation: Aizawa’s blood powers would mostly support his canon abilities. The reality-manipulation powers that a person with Darkblood can have would allow him to strengthen his Quirk, letting him use it to cancel or weaken all sorts of abilities, not just Quirks (with player permission) - though this would be limited to non-blood related abilities, and would be something characters can fight off with effort. He would also gain the ability to move things with his mind, which he would slowly develop over time with training and practice.
